Coral reefs are one of the most colorful and amazing things I have ever seen. Corals usually start out as larvae that after a little while settle on the sea floor and develop into massive limestone formations. Coral reefs are warm, clear, shallow sea habitats that are full of life. They provide shelter for many animals like Clown fish. There are two types of coral, hard coral and soft coral. Hard coral form the basis of coral reefs. Soft corals do not build coral reefs. The largest coral reef in the world is the Great Barrier Reef. It is located off the coast of Austalia. Coral reefs are dying off. The major problems are water pollutoin,careless collectoins of corals, and when sand or silt from mining or constuctoin muddies the waters of the reef. Coral reefs are one of the most colorful things in the ocean. They are homes to many fish and other sea animals. Coral reefs are very unique natural resouces that should not be treated badly. They are a wonderful creations to learn and write about.
